What is a book similar to Jack Ryan by Tom Clancy?

I am looking for one for my boyfriend. He is a 15 year old HIGHLY intelligent boy. He read Atlas Shrug and enjoyed it... but he said he liked that type of action novel. So i was wondering if their was a book similar to it, equally as good or better in that genre skill-level?
