Check engine light is on / Ford Contour?

My check engine light was one a few days ago. I went to autozone. I exactly dont remember, but most probably the code was P1744 and the guy said it has something to do with transmission. He suggested me to go to a shop. But the light went off automatically after two days. What could be the reason for that code?
